In Bowling Green, KY at WKU in 2018, I, John Madrigal, just lost my job from US Bank. Didn't realize this would be a good thing for myself
as a self taught website developer. A week after, I got interviewed and hired on at Shutterbug Photomall
as a programmer for there IT department. Little did I know this job would introduce me to and start me into a professional photography hobby.
While working on a task manager, driving code into the wall, hoping it would work, there was a bug inside me nagging me to pick up a DSLR
camera and try it for myself. Everyone knows a DSLR can be costly, but thanks to a great friend and employee, they let me borrow there Nikon D200
with a macro based lens, which was there backup camera.
This Nikon D200 would soon become mine, and allowed me to start to explore the images that could be captured. Fastforward 8 years, I've now been
shooting events, models, and nature, so I decided to scoop a Nikon D300S as a primary body. Events then became a natural thing for me, and I tried capturing
the joy these events brought to others to tell a story.
My D300s got stolen in 2021 at an event, which at this point I almost gave up photography. It became a natural way for me to communicate though and not
having a camera in my hand at a event felt awkward, uneasy, and unnatural. Fastforward 1 1/2 years later to July and in comes my current camera, a Sony A73,
and the job that I have.
I've now been working with Lifetouch, LLC capturing photos for school individuals when it comes to fall, spring, sports, graduations, candids, and senior photos.
The amount of knowledge I've learned when it comes to lighting, exposure, clipping, and framing have been all great things to help track this career. I
unfortunately due to restrictions cannot share school photos that are taken, but it's an experience I can definitely show when taking a photo.
So for the future into 2025 and what other years may hold, I hope to continue this professional hobby no matter what job I take. If and when YOU need a photo,
